Submitted by: Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, Itanagar

Date: 1st July, 2025

About Ramakrishna Order:

The Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission has recently celebrated the 125th Anniversary of its fruitful existence as twin organization engaged in serving Humanity in the Spiritual and Secular fields with its headquarters is at Belur Math, Howrah, West Bengal. As of 1st January 2025, it has 287 branch centers throughout the world, of these, 219 centers are in India and the remaining 68 are in 24 other countries Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission is carrying out its legacy relentlessly.

Ramakrishna Mission started its activities first in the field of education in Arunachal Pradesh, the then NEFA, in the year 1966. Ramakrishna Mission was the first philanthropic and monastic organization to come to this remote corner of our country to serve the people of the state on the request of public leaders of this state, the state government and on the personal request of Smt. Indira Gandhi. The local leaders and the then Lt. Governor of the stateSri K. A. A. Raja, too, requested, this time to start a similar service program in the field of medical at Itanagar. Concern about the bad health care situation of the state the Ramakrishna Mission authorities decided to establish a hospital at Itanagar to provide quality health care to the people.

Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, Itanagar:

The birth of the Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, Itanagar; a branch of the Ramakrishna Mission took place on the morning of December 28, 1977 when Lt. Governor Sri K.A.A. Raja laid down the foundation stone for the hospital premises. On October 19, 1979 the hospital was formally inaugurated and declared open by Srimat Swami Vireshwaranandaji Maharaj, the President of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission. Out of its four and half decades of relentless journey the hospital has grown from strength to strength and has attained great heights.

School of Nursing:

Not content only with medical services, the hospital started a School of Nursing in the year 1985 for training tribal as well as non- tribal girls of Arunachal Pradesh, first of its own kind in the state. The school offers a three-year diploma course in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) with annual intake of 20 poor but meritorious girls. The school is affiliated with the Arunachal Pradesh Nursing Council and is officially designated with the school code APNC/GNM/01. It is also recognized by the Indian Nursing Council, ensuring that its academic and training standards comply with national regulations and best practices in nursing education.

Objective:
Since last few decades demand for quality nursing education has been on rise phenomenally in this remote place and consequently cost of the course has gone high beyond the reach of poor and marginalized folk. Being a charitable institute it’s next to impossible to spare sizable amount to put into School of Nursing without effecting services in the hospital. So, we would humbly request for the financial support of 1/3rd of our students i.e. 20 per annum to enable us run this worthy initiative. This financial assistance will help deserving students, many from underprivileged backgrounds, complete their training and contribute effectively to the healthcare sector of the state and empower themselves.  This will be a great support to the state of Arunachal Pradesh to help it in its march of up rise to meet the national level.

We would humbly request benevolent Institutions, compassionate Individuals and devotees of Ramakrishna Mission to come forward and extend helping hands to Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, Itanagar to the people of Arunachal Pradesh. May Sri Ramakrishna Bless you and yours.

Yours in the service of the Nation.

Swami Vedasarananda
