An Appeal from Ramakrishna Mission Hospital Itanagar

Ramakrishna Mission Hospital Itanagar has been serving the people of Arunachal Pradesh through healthcare and nursing education for five decades.

In 1985, the hospital established the first School of Nursing in the state, offering the General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) programme recognized by the Indian Nursing Council. Since then, many young women—especially from rural and tribal communities—have been trained as professional nurses and are serving society across the region.

Today, the rapidly evolving healthcare sector requires higher levels of professional training. In line with national standards and the future vision of nursing education, we propose to upgrade the existing School of Nursing into a B.Sc. Nursing College.

Why This Project Is Important

Upgrading to a B.Sc. Nursing programme will:

• Enhance the quality of nursing education
• Train highly skilled healthcare professionals
• Expand career opportunities for young women
• Strengthen healthcare delivery in rural and tribal regions of Arunachal Pradesh

Proposed Development

To establish the B.Sc. Nursing College, the following infrastructure is required:

• Construction of a modern academic building with classrooms and lecture halls
• Establishment of advanced nursing laboratories
• Development of a digital library and learning resources
• Construction of student hostel facilities and faculty accommodation

Project Cost

The estimated cost for the upgradation project is: ₹41 Crore (Approx.)

ComponentEstimated Cost

₹17.42 Crore

Nursing Hostel Building₹20.15 Crore

While efforts are underway to seek institutional and government support, philanthropic contributions will play a vital role in realizing this vision.
